Mission of Mercy recently announced that they are launching a 2015 “Campaign for Care – Uniting to Heal” to increase awareness of their life-saving services and to raise needed operating funds. “As a nonprofit organization that receives no government funding, we need the support of the community in order to continue our services,” said Jennifer Charlton, Executive Director.
“For our patients, the uninsured and under-insured working poor, Mission of Mercy
Thanks to a grant from the Kahlert Foundation, we were able to purchase a new Mobile Medical Unit to replace our aging unit.
may be the only source of health care, dental care and prescription medications that they can both access and afford,” said Jennifer Charlton, Executive Director of Mission of Mercy.
But for Mission of Mercy’s services to continue, the nonprofit organization needs to close a $150,000 shortfall in funding to become sustainable and expand services in the future. “Thanks to a recent grant of $75,000 from the Stabler Foundation, we have reduced the funding gap to $75,000 for FY2015,” Ms. Charlton explained.
“We leverage 25 volunteers and just a part-time medical director and nursing director to serve the entire Pennsylvania/Maryland footprint, but it still costs $200,000 a year to fund the two clinic days a month in Harrisburg,” Ms. Charlton explains.
The campaign will kick off on March 15 and continue throughout the summer.
The mobile clinic is located at Harrisburg Brethren in Christ Church, 2217 Derry St. in Harrisburg on two Thursdays a month. See our clinic schedule for more details.

We need to raise $65,000 to keep our life-saving services in Gettysburg & Adams County! Since 1995, we've provided more than 20,000 medical and dental patient visits at our Gettysburg clinic. Visit bit.ly/KeepMominGB and click on the Gettysburg Campaign for Care link.
Now, thanks to a $25,000 Challenge Gift, every dollar you give will be doubled!
Won't you please help?
“Since 1995, when Mission of Mercy (M.O.M.) began serving this area, we have provided critical health and dental care services to about 5,100 area patients through 20,000 visits to our mobile clinics. All free,” said Executive Director Jennifer Charlton.
The campaign also includes “Coffee with M.O.M.” Clinic Tour on Wednesday, June 24 from 10 – 11 a.m. at Gettysburg Foursquare Church, 330 West Middle St., Gettysburg.
“When people see our clinic in action, it really opens their eyes to the needs in their own communities. Although the needs are great, people also hear stories of healing, hope and inspiration,” noted Ms. Charlton.
“The Adams County community really came together and supported us during our 2013 Campaign for Care, and we received double our $50,000 goal. We hope the community again rallies so that we can continue offering our life-saving care,” added Ms. Charlton.
Mission of Mercy has six clinics in southern Pennsylvania and Maryland, including Gettysburg and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and Frederick, Brunswick, Taneytown and Reisterstown Maryland.
The organization’s Gettysburg office is located at 103 W. Middle St. in Gettysburg.
