Dental Health Class
Dental health is an important part of patient care. Our partnership with Del Mar College Dental Hygiene Program allows for their dental hygienist students to come to our Medical Center and education patients on everything from brushing, flossing to Xerostomia, Aging and Dental Health and more. Check out our calendar for days and topics. These classes are open to the public.
Diabetes Education and Management Class
Diabetes Self-Management Education Classes are important to the overall health of someone living with diabetes. Our partnership with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, Diabetes Education Program benefits our patients in many ways. Health educators teach what diabetes is, how to monitor blood glucose, proper nutrition, exercise, medications, goal setting and stress management. Classes are taught in English and Spanish.
Our partnership with H-E-B allows us to provide our patients with home Diabetes Management Kits that include an H-E-B insulated bag, a glucose monitor, testing strips, information about diabetes and a log to record reading and email back to our medical team.
Nutrition and Healthy Cooking Class
Mission of Mercy collaborates with other organizations such as Coastal Bend Food Bank to provide hands-on healthy cooking classes. Patients get a chance to learn about healthy food choices, try tasty recipes and learn about healthier choices when at the grocery store and eating out.
