Founded in 1994, Mission of Mercy is a 501 (c) (3) nonsectarian charity whose mission is to "restore dignity to the sick, poor, and homeless by providing free healthcare, free dental care and healing through Love".

Mission of Mercy serves those patients who do not have a primary care physician, and who are uninsured or underinsured. Most of the patients served are the working poor who "fall through the cracks of the healthcare system". Patients who are eligible for other programs such as SCHIP, Social Security Disability, Medicare, Medicaid, etc. are referred to these programs.
